1940's STRIPED GABARDINE SKIRT SUIT
Very unusual, eye catching 40's vintage suit in a mocha color wool gabardine fabric. Curvy fitted double breasted jacket has a large rounded notched collar, shoulder pads and cuffed sleeves. Jacket has an assymetrical closure with four carved round brown wooden buttons. Body of jacket has horizontal stripes in deep chocolate brown, mustard yellow, and very thin lines of red. There are two slash pockets in front and it is lined in cocoa brown crepe.
Fitted pencil style skirt has 12" inverted pleats in the side seams near hem that have striped fabric inserts. Side metal zipper and button closure.
Only label is the "National Recovery Board, Coat and Suit Industry" Consumer Protection Label.
Measurements- Jacket- bust 40" waist 30" shoulder to hem 25" shoulder to shoulder 16" sleeve length 26" Skirt- waist 28" hips 38" length 30"
Buttons have been replaced, but they are vintage. There are two tiny pinholes by the dart in the left elbow of jacket.(pictured) Back of skirt has a very faint discoloration about 2" around. Very hard to see except under certain lighting conditions. Tried to photograph, but it wouldn't show up. Neither of these issues detracts from how fabulous this suit is! Overall very good vintage condition.
