1950'S AQUA SILK BUTTERFLY PRINT FULL SKIRT PARTY DRESS-S
Celebrate spring in this enchanting ladylike 50's party dress. A lovely look for a garden wedding.
Delicate sprigs of black and white flowers with purple and black fluttering butterflies meander across a pale aqua background. Fabric has the feel of a drapey, lighweight taffeta. Burn test done on small piece of fabric taken from inside seam indicates it is silk fiber.
Kimono bodice with pleated surplice wrap front.
Short sleeves tie at the ends.
Wide inset waistband.
Very full skirt has 140" sweep.
Pleating at waistline.
White stiff gauze slip is sewn at inside waistseam
Back metal zipper closure.
Matching belt accompanies the dress.
Unlined bodice.
Actual garment measurements-
Bust 36" (19" across fullest part of front, 17" widest part of back)
Waist 26"
Ribcage (at top of waistband) 30"
Shoulder to waist 16"
Waist to hem 29"
To ensure proper fit, your own measurements should be a bit smaller so as not to put strain on the fabric.
Nitpicky condition issues-
There are two tiny very light rust color spots that did not come out with cleaning. Virtually undetectable except under very close inspection. One on back left sleeve, the other by pleat just below waistband.
The backing on belt has stiffened.
There is the faintest line indicating that hem has been lowered and also some pinholes from the previous stitches. Only noticeable if held up to light.
The gauze slip looks like it may have been added after the dress was purchased as it is hand basted to inside waist seam.
Overall very good to excellent condition. Presents beautifully. Fabric still strong. No fading to print.
Shown with petticoat to display fullness of skirt. Sold separately.
