Magnificent vintage special occasion dress circa late 50s/early 60s designed by Karen Stark for Harvey Berin. Harvey Berin started his clothing business in 1921. Each season, his designer, Karen Stark, adapted Parisian couture designs for their American customers. Noted for their feminine, ladylike style, Karen Stark designs were favored by several first ladies. According to the book"Grace Kelly:Icon of Style and Royal Bride" the author states that Harvey Berin evening dresses were chosen by Princess Grace as part of her wedding trousseau. An exquisite choice as a semi formal wedding dress, it is comprised of delicate silk Chantilly lace from France over ivory silk taffeta.
~Taffeta bodice is cut straight across and is overlaid with silk organza.
~ Boning is installed front and back for support.
~The Chantilly lace on the bodice is backed by fine netting.
~Fine tulle straps are attached on inside bodice to prevent strain to the sheer lace straps.
~Princess style with seaming through mid section.
~Lace stops midway down the skirt and is finished with scalloped edges.
~A wide silver satin insert surrounds the skirt with matching bow accents.
~Another layer of lace is applied below that and the bottom of the skirt is finished with four inverted pleats.
~Back metal zipper and hook and eye closure.
~Label reads "Harvey Berin designed by Karen Stark"Garment
