50's ALIX OF MIAMI EMBROIDERED WHITE PENCIL DRESS
After WWII Miami became the "In" place to be. Post war affluent society was enticed by it's modernism, informality and tropical mystique.
During that era many Miami clothing manufacturers produced some seriously sexy resort wear. Catering to the style conscious women who were eager to embrace this new vacation lifestyle, they offered glamorous attire with a casual flair.
And Alix of Miami definitely produced some of best.
A fine example is this lovely form fitting sheath in a crisp medium weight white cotton embroidered with alternating rows of baby blue and deep powder blue designs.
The fitted bodice has a square cut neckline, short, caplike sleeves and, of course, the famous Alix of Miami built in bra type liner.
Solid blue fabric, that matches the bolero, weaves in and out around the neckline and inset waistband. The neckline is also accented by two matching bows.
The pencil style skirt has a back kick pleat to allow for ease of movement.
Dress closes with a back metal zipper.
The adorable fitted cropped jacket has notched collar and short cuffed sleeves. Fabric is a linen weave in a rayon or cotton/rayon blend.
A white chiffon hankie peeks out from one of the two faux pocket flaps.
Jacket has bound buttonholes and closes with matching fabric buttons.
Jacket and skirt are both unlined.
The outfit is extremely feminine, but the body conscious cut of the dress gives it a understated sex appeal.
This versatile stunner is perfect for a dinner date, summer cocktail party or even a casual wedding.
