50's PAT PREMO TROPICAL PRINT COTTON PIQUE DRESS
Pat Premo is one of the designers on the forefront of what was termed "California Style" fashion beginning in the 1940's. Back then California designers formed their own interpretation of American sportswear based on influences from the movie industry and the casual resort lifestyle.
This stunning 50s dress is done in a fine waffle weave cotton pique with a painterly antherium print in shades of red, pink, teal, celery, olive green and marigold against an ivory background. A perfect outfit for a casual beach wedding!
On the skirt the print is cut out at the bottom and appliqued to the deep teal green border at the hem. A truly distinctive design detail.
Fitted bodice with vertical waist darts.
Fabric at top of shoulder curves creating a capped sleeve effect.
Very full gathered skirt has a 130" sweep and is comprised of 4 gored panels.
Matching fabric belt accompanies the dress.
