HOLLY HARP PALE PEACH SILK CHIFFON DRESS/ANGEL SLEEVES
Holly Harp moved to the West coast and set up shop on Sunset Blvd. in the late 60's after studying fashion in New York. Her use of feathers, fringe and unusual batiks, inspired by the street fashion at the time, attracted many rock star clients to her "rich hippie look."
In the 70s her clothing became more refined and body conscious with a hint of nostalgia and liberal use of jersey, flowing chiffons and draping. Her Hollywood client list included Liza Minelli, Jane Seymour, Lauren Hutton, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, Jane Pauley, and Sally Field.
She is quoted as saying "I've been designing clothes since the late 1960s. I always try to remind myself that I am dressing a woman's soul as well as her body. Souls and bodies do best when they are relaxed, fluid, and comfortable. They love to play "dress-up." They love a good laugh as well as perfect quiet and softness. I hope my clothes reflect a woman's soul."
Unfortunately this very talented designer passed away at the early age of 55. Yet her memory lives on in the beautiful clothing she left behind.
This ethereal pale peach silk chiffon dress from the 1980s is a reflection of her romantic, feminine style.
A peach silk slightly fitted dropped waist sleeveless sheath dress is overlaid by two layers of silk chiffon that dip lower in back. The lower part of the dress has an attached flowing chiffon skirt with a hemline that also dips lower in the back.
A chiffon capelet type layer attached at the neckline becomes angel wing sleeves that are open to the wrist, where there are fabric covered button closures.
There are two small shoulder pads that can easily be removed.
Back nylon zipper closure.
