WERLE BEVERLY HILLS 60s PINK RIBBON EMBROIDERED LACE DRESS
Loretta Young's claim to fame, beside being a talented actress, was the glamorous wardrobe she wore for her television show. Many of the dresses were designed by Dan Werle, who also sold his designs from his Beverly Hills boutique.
This particular Werle dress came from a very exclusive bridal/formalwear shop in White Plains, New York. It has a classic early 60's silhouette, the form fitting sheath with bateau neckline and short little overblouse/jacket.
The workmanship is top notch and the fabric is amazing. Pink silk overlaid with sheer pink silk organza, topped with a beautiful pink ribbon embroidered lace.
The sleeveless bodice has been designed with a short boxy shaped overblouse that covers the fitted silk bodice in back and stops several inches in on the right and left side of front. Mr. Werle masterfully manipulated the top layers of fabric into the front of bodice to create this unique design.
The pencil style skirt does not have a back kick pleat.
Dress has a back metal zipper with hook and eye closures. Overblouse closes with snaps in back.
This would be a classy, sophisticated, yet feminine, choice for an informal wedding.
Labels read "Werle, Beverly Hills" and "L.A. Schulman, White Plains, N.Y."
