There's been a lot of asian influenced fashions on the catwalks lately, reflecting the world's increasing focus on China, especially because of the Beijing olympics. It's not so unusual, since the mystique of far east cultures has always held a fascination with the west. China is famous for its beautiful silk brocades, embroidery and exquisite tailoring. And designers have incorporated traditional oriental silhouettes, motifs, beading and textiles and into their clothing as far back as the early 1900's.
