Martin McCrae Vintage Style Wedding Dresses

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Are you, or someone you know,  searching for a non-traditional, ultra romantic, vintage inspired wedding gown? Well, look no further than  Martin McCrae Couture. This Tuscon, Az. based company specializes in limited production, period style wedding dresses, using the most sumptuous silks, chiffons, velvets and laces in their designs.

Whether you envision yourself in a delicate victorian or renaissance look, a 1920’s sleek, dropped waist flapper style,  30’s Harlowesque bias cuts, or glamorous curve hugging 40’s and 50’s silhouettes, they have a stunning creation to help make your vintage wedding fantasy come true.

Most of their dresses are made in a natural shade, but all fabrics can be dyed any color you desire. This makes them perfect not only for brides, but also for bridesmaids, mothers of the bride or anyone looking for an outstanding special occasion outfit. They do custom sizing orders, as well.

These are some of the most uniquely beautiful vintage style gowns I’ve seen and I like the idea that they’re made here in the US by a small company.

50’s Style Wedding Dresses

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

Since June is the traditional wedding month, and with vintage themed weddings becoming more and more popular,  I thought I'd do some research on where brides could find vintage and vintage style attire.  The first website I'd like to recommend is Dolly Couture where you can order gorgeous 50's reproduction wedding dresses a la Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.  Classic silhouettes in a shorter length, they're perfect for semi-formal weddings, and are certainly glamorous enough to create an especially memorable vintage look for the big day!

Priced very reasonably between $300 and $400.  For a bit more, you can even have custom dresses designed as well.
Pictured below are a few of their classic creations.

Getting Married in Vintage Style

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Vintage style weddings are becoming increasingly popular, with more and more brides looking for ways to make their special day a unique and truly memorable event.  Very often the vintage theme will form around the bride’s preferred era for clothing, enabling her to wear a wedding gown from her favorite decade.

I found this great article on dressing for a vintage wedding.  Good information about bridal styles specific to each decade from the 20’s to the 50’s.

And here is a representative sampling of vintage wedding gowns from the flapper to disco era.

20’s and 30’s art deco elegance from The Frock . They definitely have one of the most impressive collections of gowns on the internet.
