Designers are showing lots of gingham fashions for the upcoming summer season. Check out InStyle’s Top Summer Fashion Trends to see Dita Von Teese rocking the gingham 50s style and Katrina Bowden in a more contemporary silhouette. Either way, gingham is classic and never really goes out of style!
Here is a spread from a 1961 McCalls magazine that features some spectacular gingham floral print separates by Sylvia de Gay for Robert Sloan. I had never heard of Sylvia de Gay, but after doing a some googling I found our she won a Coty Fashion Critics Award in 1965. Not surprised, since her sportswear is gorgeous!
Isn’t that ruffled eyelet blouse dreamy? I would love to have that to wear with some capris. And how adorable is that short gathered dress worn over the cropped pants?
Found this lovely 1950’s Greta Plattry sundress over at Couture Allure. Greta Plattry is well known by vintage clothing collectors as one of best mid 20th century American sportswear designers.
