50's TINA LESER EXOTIC ETHNIC PRINT WRAP DRESS/METALLIC TRIM
SKU: dr1301
Tina Leser is famous for being one of the first designers to create ready to wear resort and sportswear collections. Her extensive global travel heavily influenced her designs and she enjoyed using beautiful ethnic screenprints in much of her clothing.
This stunning vintage sundress from the late 40s/early 50s was inspired by her trips to India. The colors in the print are deep moss green, teal blue, gold and black with hints of red.
The dress is a wrap style that closes on the right side of the bodice with textured goldtone buttons.
A gathered, pleated section of fabric, attached at the top of back bodice, wraps diagonally up and over the right shoulder sari style. It is edged in gold metallic trim, as is the bodice in front.
The skirt is flared and semi full with two drop pleats at waistline. A pocket on skirt front has a foldover flap with a gold tassel.
I've shown the dress with the fabric scarf wrapped at the neck and also draped across the bodice and tucked under the ribbon belt I added, as the original belt is missing. I think the latter was the way it was originally intended to be worn. But it looks great either way.
