When Paris born, Pauline Trigere, landed in New York in 1937, she already had a sewing background, being the daughter of a tailor and dressmaker. As fate would have it, in 1942, her husband ended up abandoning her, leaving her a single mom who had to support her two sons on her own. These unfortunate circumstances led to a long, illustrious career as one of the most renowned American fashion designers of the twentieth century. Known the world over for her elegant, impeccably tailored, timeless clothing and use of exquisite fabrics, she never sketched her designs, preferring to cut and drape directly on a model. She has won two Coty Awards and her customers included Lena Horne, Duchess of Windsor, Bettie Davis and Beverly Sills. She also designed the wardrobe for Patricia Neal in Breakfast at Tiffanys.

And we are thrilled to offer this stunning, collectible, couture quality dress and jacket set from the 60s designed by Pauline Trigere. As expected, the workmanship is amazing, the fabric gorgeous.

-Silk painterly floral print in shades of pink, white, gray and olive green against a taupe color background.
-Fitted bodice with ruching across top and back and thin straps.
-Pencil skirt.
-Hand set metal back zipper.
-Skirt is lined in olive green silk. Bodice is lined in silk organza and gray color silk.
-Skirt also has an extra panel of fabric attached inside the back. You can see it peeking out behind the back kick pleat.
-Fitted jacket with 3/4 cuffed sleeves and tie front closure, lined in shocking pink silk.
-Pauline Trigere label in jacket and on grosgrain tape at inner waist of dress.

Good condition. The jacket is flawless. Unfortunately the silk in the bodice lining is shattered in several places, including the underarm area and along zipper. And there is a very small hole in the floral silk where it folds over inside the top of bodice. Also looks like bodice may have been taken in a bit on each side near top. Fortunately, the outside fabric of the dress wasn't affected and the skirt lining is totally intact. But the bodice lining will definitely need restoration, repair or replacement. We are selling this beauty as found, and with some tlc will be a spectacular wearable piece of fashion history.
