Exquisite early 50s formal gown in a deep rose silk satin. It bears the Gothe, New York label. David Gothe
owned a dressmaking business in the 40s, 50s and 60s. The head designer was his wife, Irene. Their Paris
inspired evening fashions were noted for their elegance, fine quality and intricate details. They designed
inauguration dresses for Eleanor Roosevelt, one of which is on display in the Smithsonian.

This rare beauty would surely leave a memorable impression at any formal event, ball or fancy vintage themed
soiree. It would even make a stunning alternative wedding dress.

CONDITION
Good. Dress is structurally sound and the workmanship is amazing. There is some soiling on the hem edge and a
few small soil marks on skirt. There are also two sizeable water marks on the lower part of skirt front, close
to hem. (pictured) Satin is difficult to remove water marks from, so I'm leaving as is. Drycleaning does not
remove them. Because of the sheen to the fabric the marks are quite unobstrusive. They blend in very well
within the folds of the skirt. So dress can easily be worn the way it is. I guarantee no one would notice
unless they were down on the floor and really looking!

The gown has been priced accordingly. But the dress is spectacular and wearable despite the imperfections.
Quite the gorgeous piece of fashion history!
